Valentines Day

Valentines day was a very exciting day in our classroom!  We started the day off by handing out all of our valentines.  We put them away to be open later in the day, it was so hard to wait to see all the special cards that people had made.  For math we did some fun conversation heart math.  Everyone was given a box of candy hearts, with those hearts we estimated, graphed, practice the more and less concept, and did addition and subtraction.  After we finished using the hearts to learn everyone was allowed to eat a few of them.

In the afternoon we opened our cards and watched Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.  It was exciting to see the book as a movie!  We also had some very wonderful goodies for our afternoon party, thank you to all who contributed to our yummy afternoon!

Have a very wonderful February break, and don't forget to get outside and have some fun in all that snow.  Also, remember 20 minutes of reading a day goes a long way!

Special Assembly

This week in honor of our Iditarod reading challenge we had a real musher and his dog come to school.  It was very exciting to hear about how he trains year round to prepare for his races.  He even brought his mushing sled and equipment to show students.

Inside Recess

The past few weeks has been very cold so, we have made the most of it by having very creative and fun inside recesses.  There has been lots of building, imaginative play, hopscotch, painting, games, and legos involved in our recess time.  Here are a few pictures from one of our indoor recess times.
